Gaswirth, Marc And Others Administrator Role Board of Education Role Collective Bargaining Contracts Elementary Secondary Education Grievance Procedures Legal Responsibility Negotiation Agreements Teacher Administrator Relationship This book is organized to give the reader an overview of the legal, practical, and technical aspects of grievance handling. The book contains four general sections. The first three chapters constitute the first section and concern the legal framework of contract administration, including constitutional, statutory, and contractual guidelines and standards. The next three chapters, which make up the second section, deal with the practical ways of handling grievances from the perspective of the building principal or supervisor, and superintendent or chief school administrator, and the school board. The final five chapters make up the third section and deal with the arbitration process. These chapters examine the role of the arbitrator, the rules of evidence in arbitration, the hearing, and the award, and describe legal action available to confirm, vacate, or modify an award. The fourth section consists of appendixes containing source material especially important to the practitioner. (Author)
