contents Part-Time Faculty Handbook. Adult Students Community Colleges Evening Programs Faculty Handbooks Institutional Characteristics Part Time Faculty Teacher Orientation Two Year Colleges Weekend Programs Policies, regulations, procedures, and general information are provided in this handbook designed to help orient new part-time faculty at Hillsborough Community College (HCC). After introductory material outlining the history of HCC and stressing the importance of the student in HCC's mission, the handbook describes HCC's evening and weekend programs, discusses the distinguishing characteristics of the adult students in those programs, and lists various campus offices which can be contacted by the instructor for additional information. A description of the file maintained for each part-time instructor by the campus personnel office precedes an outline of regulations concerning course load, attendance, class roles and grade books, grade reports, course outlines, textbooks, classroom visitations, field trips, pay schedules, parking permits, and identification cards. Next, room numbers, service hours, and responsibilities are outlined for HCC's copy center, bookstore, library, learning laboratory, safety and security department, veterans' affairs office, financial aid service, placement office, advising center, student government office, and testing center. A discussion of the support services available to part-time faculty is followed by the campus telephone directory. The handbook concludes with HCC's disaster plan and appendices providing forms, maps, and grading definitions. (JP)
