The survey is a compromise between an informal essay and a completely structured, multiple choice questionnaire, designed to accommodate the variance in programs from state to state. Directory information is followed by descriptions of depository libraries, document distribution procedures, loan policies, dissemination of cataloging data, microforms, state agency depository activities, current checklists and bibliographic guides, programming and budget information, councils and advisory boards, and future plans for the system.
