contents Report of Contemplation of Children's Services in Public Libraries of Wisconsin. Children Formative Evaluation Library Planning Library Services Public Libraries Workshops Delegates from Wisconsin public libraries were invited to attend a 2-day workshop together with several consultants and representatives of the Division of Library Services to plan for an assessment, examination, and evaluation of public library service to children in the state. Issues and tasks addressed by the group included (1) the formulation of guidelines for evaluating, comparing, and planning improvement of public library service to children at various levels; (2) gathering of data for comparing children's services in public libraries of different size and in different areas of the state; (3) setting a base for annual allocation of Library Services and Construction Act funds in proportion to percentage of total circulation and program attendance generated by children's services; (4) establishment of a method for exchange of operational and program successes; and (5) implications of computerization and other technological developments for children's services. This report includes a news release, agenda, overview of evaluation reports and responses to working papers, narrative evaluations by participants, tabulations of evaluation reports and responses to working papers with comments, and results of the workshop through August 1980. Information on the 40 participants and the libraries represented is included. (Author/RAA)
