Each abstract is coded to indicate intended audience, subject category, and level of concern. The topics covered by the abstracts are: (1) five major components of teacher evaluation; (2) writing an abstract; (3) creating a positive, non-threatening learning environment for students; (4) the role of higher education in the 1980's; (5) techniques for improving initial contacts with individuals or groups; (6) the creative use of silence in group discussions; (7) Study Unlimited, a cooperative program of Black Hawk College (IL) and the River Bend Library System; (8) the American College Testing Program's College Outcomes Measures Project, which assesses general education competencies; (9) a new definition of literacy; (10) the use of standard error in achieving fair grading practices; (11) strategies, including participatory management, for institutional change; (12) the premises, organization, and benefits of the cluster college concept at Oakton Community College (IL); (13) applications of the Cloze Procedure; (14) the statistical indicators which predict change in the educational environment; and (15) organizing effective staff development programs. Each abstract provides references for further information. (JP)
