The workbook introduces the following research tools: (1) the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE searches, including a sample MEDLINE search printout with explanation of how to read it; (2) indexing tools for nursing ("Medical Subject Headings" (MeSH), "Abridged Index Medicus,""Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature,""Hospital Literature Index,""Index Medicus,""International Nursing Index"); and reference tools for nursing (abbreviations, diagnosis, dictionaries, drugs or pharmacology, nursing handbooks, syndromes). Examples of each of these research tools are given, with practice sets for student use. (KC)
