Divided into three sections, the booklet describes activities for parents to use with their children to motivate them to read. The first section describes seven activities for parents to use with children in preschool through grade two, including a sample calendar page for marking quality time spent with a child. The growing independence of children in grades three through six is addressed in the second section, and 13 activities are suggested to motivate readers in this age group. The last section provides a brief psychological sketch of the adolescent and emphasizes the importance of a proper reading environment for children in grades seven through twelve. Suggested home reading experiences include television and reading, a home library and reading center, oral reading, and books as gifts. (AEA)
