  • The 1980 User Study of the Metropolitan Toronto Library. Kotzer, Donna Library Facilities Library Materials Library Research Library Surveys Participant Characteristics Public Libraries Questionnaires Tables (Data) Use Studies User Satisfaction (Information) Conducted to furnish data which would profile users of the Metropolitan Toronto Library, this 1980 survey drew its findings from a sample of 884 questionnaires (randomly selected from the 5,304 returned) which were distributed to entering and exiting library patrons over a 3-day period. The survey found that 62 percent of the respondents were students and that 19 percent were professionals. The most frequented departments were science and technology, social sciences, business, history, and languages. Sixty-nine percent of the respondents used books, and 57 percent specified that they found the materials they were seeking. Seventy-six percent of respondents who asked for assistance were satisfied with the help they received. Tables present a complete breakdown of the data gathered. Coding instructions and a copy of the questionnaire are provided. (FM)
