Data are derived from regular reports of public libraries and from the 1975 survey of academic libraries conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The report highlights key findings, analyzes the data, shows limited and approximate indicators for school library/media centers, and describes the research methodology. Tables display the data.
