Descriptions of the major marketed videodisc systems, as well as those soon to be marketed, are given. A critique of the ABC/NEA Schooldisc Program is also included. A 72-item list of references and selected bibliography is provided, which includes references dealing with fault tree analysis (sometimes referred to as "fault free analysis") as a recommended tool to assist with the smoothing out of the diffusion process for videodiscs. Library, information, and instructional specialists are seen to be in a position to play a major role in that diffusion process. (Author/LLS)
