  • The International Flow of Information: A Trans-Pacific Perspective. The Center for the Book. Viewpoint Series, No. 7. Cole, John Y., Ed. Communication Problems Copyrights Developing Nations Information Dissemination Information Systems International Organizations International Programs Perspective Taking Publishing Industry Improvement of the two-way flow of information between the East-Pacific Region and the United States was the unifying theme of a seminar conducted by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress and attended by representatives of 12 east Asian and Pacific countries at which this collection of five papers was presented. The papers address concerns of language; literacy; translation; the state of international and indigenous publishing; the problems involved in exporting, importing, and distributing books and other printed materials; copyright; the influence of the news media; and the part played by international organizations such as UNESCO in promoting the international flow of information. Biographical sketches and the brief last day remarks of the librarians, journalists, and government officials in attendance follow the presentations. (RAA)
