- Acquisition of Publications from Asiatic Countries: Dutch Problems. Schiltman, Maria J. Depository Libraries Developing Nations Government Publications Information Dissemination International Programs Library Acquisition Library Cooperation This presentation of the Dutch experience with the international exchange of publications focuses on the acquisition of publications from China and Indonesia to illustrate problems of availability. Lack of depository systems, restrictive export policies, inadequate national bibliographies, exorbitant commercial prices, and time consuming delivery systems are highlighted as problems in international exchange with developing Asiatic nations. The paper concludes with a plea for IFLA to consider how Western and Eastern libraries may cooperate to achieve the mutual goal: universal availability of publications in the most efficient and economical way.
