- Saint Mary's College Small Library Planning Program. Report of a Self Study, September 1979-October 1980. Administrative Organization College Libraries Higher Education Library Administration Library Services Library Technical Processes Program Development Questionnaires Self Evaluation (Groups) A nine month self-study aimed at improving public and technical services, internal operations, and overall management was conducted during 1979-80 by the library staff at Saint Mary's College. A part of the Small Library Planning Program, the study was funded by the Lilly Foundation through the Office of Management Studies, Association of Research Libraries. A group aproach to analysis used library staff, faculty, students, and administration to conduct the analyses. This report includes a summary of the major issues confronting the library; an analysis of higher education in the United States and at Saint Mary's College; and a list of recommendations and a plan of action to effect those changes deemed necessary for improving the quality of the services of the library. One of the principal findings was a need for reorganization and such a plan is included. Study team and task force reports are also provided, along with the survey instruments used to collect the information. Fifteen references are cited. (Author/RAA)
