| contents | Some Ergonomic Considerations of VDU Workspaces at D. H. Hill Library. Leach, Tom Display Systems Furniture Design Glare Health Needs Human Factors Engineering Library Personnel Questionnaires Surveys Work Environment A study conducted to investigate possible health problems resulting from employees' use of visual display units (VDUs) in the library of North Carolina State University at Raleigh used a survey to identify the kinds of tasks performed at each VDU workstation and the rate of health complaints. Analysis of the tasks performed in the library indicates that all of the VDUs are functionally conversational terminals. Among the significant number of health complaints reported, the most frequently specified were visual complaints. Suggestions of ways to minimize these and other complaints, compiled for distribution to workers and department heads, are included in this report, as well as a copy of the questionnaire. Twenty references are listed. (LLS) |
