And Others Engineers Government Libraries Information Dissemination Information Services Library Services Program Evaluation Publications Scientific Personnel Scientists Surveys User Satisfaction (Information) As Phase I of a comprehensive evaluation of the NASA-affiliated Langley Research Center's (LaRC) scientific and technical information (STI) program, an internal survey was conducted to obtain feedback from LaRC scientists and engineers concerning the effectiveness of the STI program. The first stage of the survey, which involved interviews with 64 randomly selected LaRC engineers and scientists, was intended to gather information for use in questionnaire development. The second stage involved data collection by means of a questionnaire submitted to LaRC scientific personnel assigned to the Aeronautics, Electronics, Structures, and Space Directorates. Responses were compiled and analyzed in groups corresponding to the various aspects of Langley STI services addressed by the survey: the technical review process, the research review process, the perceived image of LaRC STI Services, LaRC publication guidelines, research support services, and scientific and technical products and services. Recommendations based on the findings are made for each topic area. Data are presented by topic areas and summarized in 22 tables. Included are a reference list and six appendices, among which are the project plan for review of LaRC services and a copy of the survey instrument. (Author/JL)
