The advisory committees within the President's Office, School of Medicine, Provost's Office, Student Affairs, academic colleges, and the library are advisory in nature and stand apart from the Institutional Board of Advisors, the Staff Council, and recognized student organizations. The University Council and its Standing Committee, which represent the Marshall University Faculty in determining matters of educational policy, also are not included. The advisory committee is concerned with issues such as: academic standards; the curriculum; admissions; curriculum evaluation; faculty development; faculty hiring; promotion and tenure; continuing education; recruitment of excellent students; career services; financial aid; handicapped students; health services; minority students; teacher education; educational media; faculty advisors; and specific academic programs.
