Discussions address sources of conflict between the public and private sectors; the roles of private enterprise, libraries, and government in providing information; and a summary of recent policy statements to avoid or resolve conflicts of interest in information dissemination. Definitions of key terms are provided. Appended are a list of Task Force members, definitions used in previous policy statements and publications, and a list of cases illustrating the application of the principles and recommendations of the task force.
