Behavioral Objectives Child Development Competence Competency Based Education Course Content Course Organization Family Life Family Life Education Home Economics Learning Activities Parent Child Relationship Parenthood Education Secondary Education State Curriculum Guides Units of Study This teacher's guide on family living and parenthood is one of seven subject area guides developed for use in consumer and homemaking education in secondary schools in Texas. The guide is correlated with the "Conceptual Framework for Consumer and Homemaking Education in Texas." Content is based on the competencies needed by homemakers in the area of family living and parenthood, with terminal performance objectives identified for each competency. Content is developed through learning and evaluation experiences. The guide contains experiences for seventh and eighth grade homemaking; Homemaking I, II, III; and a semester course. Competencies and corresponding terminal performance objectives are listed at the beginning of each section. Concepts related to the competencies are outlined in the left columns of the guide, while learning and evaluation experiences to develop the competencies are listed in the right columns. Appendixes to the guide include transparency masters keyed to learning and evaluation experiences, and a reference list of books and sources of teaching aids which will assist the teacher in developing a reference library.
