Spruit, Ed And Others Audiovisual Centers Foreign Countries International Organizations Library Services National Libraries National Programs Nonprint Media Public Libraries Three papers and a brief report on audiovisual services and the agencies providing them in three countries of western Europe include: (1) "National Service to Public Libraries in the Field of Audiovisual Media: The Situation in the Netherlands," by Ed Spruit, who discusses problems concerned with the inclusion of audiovisual media in public library collections and describes the role of the governing organization of Dutch public libraries in developing such collections; (2) "The International Association of Sound Archives (IASA)," by Rolf Schuursma, briefly describes the concerns of this group of nearly 300 institutional and individual members in western Europe and Australia; (3) "Central Service of Audiovisual Media in Sweden," by Jan Gumpert, describes the three types of audiovisual service provided, i.e., talking books, music, and various media of interest to libraries such as slides, smaller language courses, and music cassettes; and (4) "Audiovisual Aids in the Federal Republic of Germany," by Willi Wiemers, describes the types of audiovisual media supplied to libraries (including sound recordings, video, and slides and films), discusses difficulties caused by unauthorized copying of sound recordings, and describes centralized services available to public libraries.
