Blackburn, Mary And Others Diagnostic Tests Foreign Countries Reading Comprehension Science Tests Scientific Literacy Secondary Education Secondary School Science Test Construction A set of 87 science exercises annotated for teachers and designed for diagnostic and formative testing are presented with a description of the purposes of the comprehension testing program. The exercises are meant to develop skills in processing scientific information through critical reading skills development. The annotations suggest how teachers may use a range of passages and questions to test vocabulary, content, inference, and conceptual comprehension; attitude acquisition; and creativity skills. Skill areas needing further development can be identified. The exercises were written by teachers and were reviewed and pretested for students in grades 7 through 10. (CM)
