Davidson Family-Patient library, which provides information on children's health problems for pediatric inpatients and their families at the Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester, New York. The development of the library, and its classification, library use, acquisitions, circulation, and overdue policies are described. Library procedures are outlined for the maintenance of accession and shelf lists; the processing of books, pamphlets, periodicals, and audiovisual materials; and the registering of borrowers. Also provided are a list of library circulation and overdue procedures, a list of duties for the volunteer staff who keep the library open, a discussion of library funding, and a list of sources for the rental and purchase of patient health education audiovisual materials. The manual concludes with samples of 14 cards, notices, instruction sheets, and other forms used in the daily operation of the library. (Author/ESR)
