Cable Television Case Studies Closed Circuit Television Educational Television Elementary Secondary Education Facility Inventory Glossaries Production Techniques Program Implementation Video Equipment Designed to aid in planning the best use of cable television in a particular educational situation, this pamphlet was prepared by a joint committee of the Ohio Educational Library Media Association and the Greater Miami Valley Instructional Television Council in order to share their plans, experiences, problems, and solutions with others who are using or planning to use cable casting. The first section discusses cable television franchises, local production, and technical considerations; defines cable television; and suggests school uses for cable television. Commonly asked questions concerning program implementation are then answered. To illustrate the varied possibilities for use of cable television by public schools, six case studies are summarized. Appendices outline the fundamentals of the cable franchising process, diagram the franchise procedure, and provide an equipment inventory form. An extensive glossary defines terms relating to cable television and video production, and a 31-item bibliography lists available monographs, ERIC documents, journal articles, videotapes, and related associations.
