Computers in action is the subject of part 2, addressing pupil-centered classrooms; microcomputers and teacher's needs; computer roles in managing learning; computer as a medium for distance education; an example of a software library and its dissemination; and computers and handling of information. Five national case studies are presented in section 3, discussing the "10,000 microcomputers plan" in France; Microelectronics Education Programme in the United Kingdom; educational computing in South Africa and Quebec; and software/geography teaching in New Zealand. Computers and the curriculum is considered in part 4, focusing on computers and teacher education; computer studies and computer education; the promise of microcomputers in developing basic skills; computer-based approaches to overcoming language handicaps; and the British Broadcasting Corporation in computer literacy for adults. A bibliography and biographical notes on contributers (part 5) and a glossary (part 6) are also included. (JN) |
