Virginia Alleman describes the library instruction program for the relatively large deaf student population at Golden West Community College in Huntington Beach, California. The use of many different types of media in library instruction is advocated by Mary Jane Platou of the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania. Linda Karuth, librarian at the National Institute for the Deaf (NTID) located at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York, discusses the importance of publicizing library services for the deaf and recommends that all librarians learn some signing. Susan Feinberg describes library and college support services for the hearing impaired at Pasadena City College in California. Finally, Burnelle Ray, of Gallaudet College in Washington, District of Columbia, focuses on the evaluation of student performance in library instruction and lists nine possible instructional problems in designing library instruction for the deaf.
