contents Cooperative Collection Development in Multitype Library Networks: A Beginning--Goals and Methods. Proceedings of the Annual Conference of the Missouri Library Association (1980). Tompkins, Philip, Ed. Academic Libraries Check Lists Library Acquisition Library Associations Library Cooperation Library Networks Library Planning Public Libraries Regional Programs School Libraries Special Libraries Statewide Planning This document presents the proceedings of a conference organized to review the cooperative collection development features of the Missouri State Network Plan and to outline specific goals, methods, and materials for facilitating cooperative collection development projects in the state's multitype library networks. An introduction provides background information on the state network plan; and the keynote address by Duane E. Webster reviews local cooperative collection development projects throughout the United States, surveys the growing library interest in this area, identifies the limitations of uncoordinated collection development procedures, and proposes a Missouri cooperative collection development strategy. Four divisional workshop reports follow, one for each of the academic, public, special, and school library sections of the Missouri Library Association. These reports present selected materials and information on current collection development efforts and identify barriers to and suggested strategies for cooperative collection development in Missouri's area networks. Extensive information is included on the Oswego County (New York) School Library System Pilot Project and other New York networks. An overview of the conference, by Mary J. Cronin, is provided. Appendices include articles, policy statements, and other documents related to cooperative collection development; the text of the Missouri Libraries Network Bill; a map of the Missouri Libraries Network; and a list of the literature distributed to conference participants.
