Topics addressed by Ithiel de Sola Pool in "Academic Practices, Freedoms, and the New Technologies" include the following: the effect of communication technologies on academic practices and academic freedom, how centralized or decentralized the management of educational technology will be, and teaching with computers. In "The Library: Center of the Restructured University," Patricia Battin considers traditional roles and services of the librarian, new communication links, and six policy implications.
