Sections cover: (1) the advantages of using AV teaching materials; (2) the types of staff-developed and externally produced AV materials used; (3) the use of AV materials in selected areas of library/information science teaching, including bibliography, management, children's librarianship, international and comparative librarianship, information technology, and information retrieval; (4) studying the target audience; (5) choosing the correct format; (6) planning the AV materials; (7) overhead transparency production; (8) slide production; (9) preparation and storage of talk-over slide sequences; (10) sound recording; (11) preparation and storage of tape/slide programs; (12) video production and storage; (13) adaptation of AV materials and programs produced by other teachers and those commercially produced; (14) presentation of AV materials; and (15) basic maintenance of projectors, audio equipment, and video equipment. A final section discusses the promotion of AV material development by teachers of library/information science in developing countries. A list of equipment requirements for library/information science training institutions is provided. (ESR) |
