And Others College Faculty Faculty Development Faculty Workload Information Needs Information Seeking Information Sources Library Planning Needs Assessment Questionnaires Research Needs Surveys Teacher Attitudes User Satisfaction (Information) Members of the faculty of George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University were surveyed to discover their information needs, habits, and attitudes and to learn how the process of information gathering might influence the pace and direction of library policy. More than 60% of the 133 faculty members surveyed responded, and replies from the various professional ranks were representative of the college population at large. This report includes an introduction and background information on the survey participants, as well as analyses of data on research information needs, general information needs, personal information resources, library use, languages used in research, and informal sources. A summary provides an overview of the findings and suggestions for further study. Numerous tables and an index are included. The questionnaire, respondents' comments on the questionnaire, a selective bibliography, and a subject index are appended. (Author/THC) |
