Academic Libraries Archives Higher Education Library Collections Library Personnel Library Surveys Online Systems Policy Questionnaires The kit on university archives in Association of Research Libraries (ARL) contains the results of a 1983 survey that dealt primarily with the place of the archives within the library/institutional structure, reporting relationships, collection responsibilities and scopes, staffing levels, and relationship of the library to the institution's records management program. Questionnaires were distributed to 58 academic institutions. Of the 53 that responded (91%), 44 provided usable data. Survey results include information on organization, collections, policies and procedures, and issues and trends. In addition to the survey results, the kit contains reports from 10 institutions broken down into the following categories: 3 comprehensive reports; 1 report on goals and objectives; 2 reports on policies and procedures; 2 annual reports; and 2 position descriptions. The SPEC (Systems and Procedures Exchange Center) Flyer, prepared collaboratively with Gordon Fretwell, and selected sources on university archives are included. (THC)
