Academic Libraries Communications Higher Education Information Needs Library Administration Library Automation Library Facilities Library Personnel Library Planning Library Services Needs Assessment Self Evaluation (Groups) This self-study by the University Libraries at the University of California, Riverside, involved the efforts of 35 staff members over a period of 11 months. Task forces were organized according to five issues: Role of the Library in the Future in Its Commitment to Public Services; Service Performance and Service Needs; Technology and Public Services; Organization, Staffing, and Management of Public Services; and Articulating the Library's Public Services Program. The 75 recommendations that resulted make up the major part of this report. The title of the staff member or committee responsible for implementation and a time line are provided for each recommendation, as well as the task force that proposed it. The list is divided into broad administrative areas: organization and administration; policy; communications; staff and staffing; services; facilities; and ancillary, which includes a Futures Study Group, research on information needs of scholars, and mechanisms for ongoing planning. This final report also includes the director's charge to the study team, a list of participants in the self-study, an introduction, and a study summary. Task force reports are available separately.
