A guide to library code numbers provides a complete list of ARL members. Data tables describe research library collections, interlibrary loans, expenditures, and staffing in fiscal 1984, as well as university enrollments, Ph.D's awarded, and Ph.D. fields. Changes in these measures during the past 10 years are examined through an analysis of the data from 84 ARL university libraries for the fiscal years 1974-75 and 1983-84. Further report sections include: an analysis of selected variables; Ph.D. and enrollment statistics; the ARL Library Index; a summary of rank order tables for ARL university libraries; and the rank order tables for volumes in library, volumes added (gross), microform holdings, current serials, professional staff, nonprofessional staff, total staff, materials expenditures, materials and binding expenditures, salaries and wages expenditures, total operating expenditures, total items lent, total items borrowed, and current serials expenditures. A copy of the ARL Statistics Questionnaire is included. (THC) |
