- Lasting Benefits for Libraries. The Final Report of the Commissioner of Education, Gordon M. Ambach, to the New York State Legislature on the Library Pilot Projects Organized under Chapter 787, Laws of 1978, Covering July 1, 1983-June 30, 1984, and Summary 1979-1984. Interlibrary Loans Library Cooperation Library Networks Pilot Projects Program Descriptions Program Evaluation Regional Cooperation School Libraries Shared Services Statewide Planning Tables (Data) Union Catalogs This sixth and final report on 14 library pilot projects initiated in 1979 and concluded in June 1984 describes the actions and results of the fifth year of the program and provides summary information on the five years of experience in library resource sharing. It is noted that resource sharing increased dramatically as a result of the pilot projects. School library system interlibrary loans (both within school library systems and between schools and public, academic, and special libraries) increased 24% over 1982-83. Continued union list expansion is also documented, with the compilation of a total of 678,000 union list records reported for books and films and more than 16,000 for magazines. Part I of the report provides for each pilot project information on accomplishments and results, statistics, and names of member libraries and persons responsible for the project. The tables in Part II give overall statistics about the pilot projects. (BBM)
