These recommendations cover: (1) organizational placement of the collection development function; (2) assignment and division of duties among collection development personnel; (3) monitoring of university instructional and research trends; (4) allocation of resources for maximum effectiveness; (5) formalizing of processes for writing and ratifying collection development policies; (6) institution of an ongoing program of collection analysis; (7) improvement of resource sharing activities; and (8) institution of a formal program for preservation of library resources. The formal charge to the project study team and position descriptions for collection development officer, head of acquisitions, and conservation coordinator are appended to this report. (MBR)
