- Colorado Academic Library Master Plan. Revised Edition. Johns, Claude, Jr., Ed. Moore, Beverly, Ed. Academic Libraries Higher Education Library Administration Library Collection Development Library Facilities Library Networks Library Planning Library Role Library Services Library Statistics Long Range Planning State Programs Statewide Planning This master plan for Colorado academic libraries assesses current strengths and weaknesses of public and private academic libraries in the state and forecasts the role of academic libraries in support of higher education. The plan consists of a series of recommendations divided into six related and overlapping sections: access, collection development, library services, networking, administration, and master plan implementation and maintenance. Each recommendation identifies a course of action which should be undertaken. A few recommendations also incorporate goals considered so important that attention must be called to them even though a prescribed activity and time frame for implementation cannot be offered. Prior to the specific recommendations, the document includes: a history of the Academic Library Master Plan; a directory of members of the Colorado Academic Library Master Plan Committee; an introduction; role and mission statements; and statewide accomplishments between 1982 and 1984 in each of the six areas identified above. Numerous appendices provide specific guidelines and library statistics. A glossary is included. The appendixes include access policy guidelines, the reciprocal borrowing agreement, guidelines for the formulation of collection development policies, and library and media center space guidelines.
