| contents | Interlibrary Loan Patterns: Survey of Wisconsin. Bulletin No. 5915. Academic Libraries Cataloging Cooperative Planning Higher Education Interlibrary Loans Library Cooperation Library Materials Library Networks Library Statistics Library Surveys Public Libraries Research Libraries School Libraries Special Libraries Union Catalogs This survey updates a 1976 survey conducted by the Division for Library Services of Wisconsin. The original survey obtained broad information on patterns of participation in cooperative activities by all types of libraries, including volume demands, referral patterns, and needs for interlibrary loan and reference between different types of libraries. The goals of this survey included determining: (1) current interloan patterns; (2) library staff perceptions of how interloan had changed in the last 5 years; (3) changes in interloan patterns library staff would like to see; (4) how the statewide microfiche union catalog, WISCAT, is currently used; (5) problems in using WISCAT; (6) changes in format or data processing which would improve WISCAT; and finally, (7) comparing use of WISCAT, OCLC, and other resource sharing tools. The survey included public library systems; CESAs (Cooperative Educational Service Agencies); public school and school district libraries; public, academic, VTAE (Vocational Technical and Adult Education), and special libraries. A 71% overall response rate was achieved by the return of 845 out of the 1,195 surveys distributed. Statistics and textual comments provide an overview of the survey and evaluation of interlibrary loan, evaluation of WISCAT and its uses, a copy of the Task Force on Interlibrary Cooperation and Resource Sharing Survey Questionnaire (1976), and the 1984 survey questionnaire, Evaluation of Interlibrary Loan Patterns.
