The capabilities and limitations of various types of circulation systems and how to charge out and discharge materials are discussed. Units also cover how to use statistics; how to establish and maintain collections of materials through proper selection and periodic weeding; how to use interlibrary loan (ILL) forms for books, periodicals, films, and subject requests; and how to use the Alaska Library Network (ALN) Microfiche Catalog for interlibrary loans. The Alaska Union List of Serials (AULS) and the Alaska State Library Film/Video catalog are also covered, as well as application and eligibility for state grants to public libraries. Each unit has learning activities, self-tests, tests, and assignments. Answers to the self-tests are provided in the document, and a glossary is included. (THC)
