Annual Reports Library Acquisition Library Administration Library Automation Library Collections Library Cooperation Library Facilities Library Networks Library Planning Library Services National Libraries Online Systems Preservation Technological Advancement This booklet summarizes fiscal year 1984 activities of the Library of Congress (LC) in six areas: (1) collection development, housing, preservation, and access; (2) services to Congress performed by the Congressional Research Service and the Law Library; (3) library automation activities coordinated by the Automated Systems Office (ASO); (4) Federal library cooperation, including efforts to improve the Federal government's access to information through the Federal Library and Information Center Committee (FLICC); (5) services to the public, including the organization of exhibits, activities of the Copyright Office and the Publishing Office, and the coordination of special programs and services for special audiences; and (6) library administration and staffing. Also included is a discussion of the application of new technologies to library needs and the appropriation by the Congress of $81.5 million for the renovation and restoration of the 1897 Jefferson Building and the John Adams Building.
