According to the general outlines provided for these reports, the presentations focus on developments after 1977, thus supplementing information presented at the first ECSSID General Conference held in Moscow in 1977. Of the 21 countries reporting in 1977, 15 are represented here: (1) Austria; (2) Bulgaria; (3) Czechoslovakia; (4) Denmark; (5) Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany); (6) Finland; (7) France; (8) German Democratic Republic (East Germany); (9) Hungary; (10) Netherlands; (11) Norway; (12) Poland; (13) United Kingdom; (14) USSR; and (15) Yugoslavia. Greece was not represented in the initial conference but is included here. While each report format is unique, they generally cover: current documentation and information activities in the social sciences; national centers of information coordination; users; feasibility of mutually linked automated information systems; international cooperation; and any needs and preconditions for European cooperation. References are included in some reports. (THC)
