International Relations Library Materials Library Planning National Security Nuclear Technology Nuclear Warfare Public Education Public Libraries School Libraries Secondary Education A bibliography on national security in the nuclear age is divided into three sections. The first section describes a proposal calling for the compilation of a balanced and up-to-date collection of books and other materials on this issue to be included in all U.S. public libraries. Also discussed are selection criteria for the book list, project cost per library to compile this collection, and applicability to college and secondary school libraries. The second section is a list of over 50 national security/nuclear age books divided into the following categories: short books for quick grasp of the issue; primary books for broad understanding; reaching for solutions; political, strategic, environmental and arms control analysis; nuclear war planning and control; the Strategic Defense Initiative ("Star Wars"); defense reform and budget analysis; moral, medical, and psychological assessments; and nuclear weapons data and annual publications. Key books in all categories are marked with an asterisk. Each citation contains title, author, publisher, publication date, price, pages, and ISBN number. The third section of the document is the national security/nuclear age booklist listed alphabetically by author. (LF)
