Teacher attitudes, recreational reading periods, and reading activities for children are discussed. The third section deals with "Promoting Voluntary Reading in the Home." Discussed are research on home influence on voluntary reading, what teachers can do to promote voluntary reading at home, and parents' responses to home reading programs. Also included is a parents' checklist for promoting voluntary reading at home. The concluding section discusses "Reading by Choice, Not by Coercion." The booklet concludes with references. (RM) |
