Step-by-step guidelines for writing a term paper are presented along with a bibliography listing resources dealing with corrections and criminal justice that are available in the Chicago State University library. Procedures for choosing a topic are outlined. The next section, which deals with finding materials on a given term paper topic, includes general guidelines for using various types of reference materials (abstracts and indexes, bibliographies, dictionaries and encyclopedias, dissertations and masters theses, handbooks and manuals, statistics, and yearbooks) and describes several relevant examples of each type of publication. Concluding the guide is a bibliography of works dealing with composing a research paper. (MN)
