contents Guide to the Archives of International Organizations. Part II. Walne, Peter, Comp. Archives Government Publications Information Sources International Cooperation International Organizations International Programs Library Collections National Libraries Public Officials Resource Materials This compilation forms Part II of the guide according to the plan conceived by a working party of the Section of Archivists of International Organisations of the International Council on Archives in 1974-1975. The directory provides access to national and other archive and manuscript repositories that maintain the archives of international organizations and former governmental and organizational officials. Information was gathered through three channels: a circular letter accompanied by a questionnaire addressed to institutions meeting certain criteria and inviting their participation in the project; a request contained in the circular letter seeking cooperation of these individuals in making the project known to other repositories within the recipient's country known or believed to hold relevant materials; and by direct approach to repositories known, understood, or believed to hold relevant materials as discovered from a wide range of pinted sources. An international organization is defined as an organization established under international aegis for the administration or execution of policies at governmental level or an international non-governmental organization for the regulation of economic, social, political, or cultural relations between nations. Listed in alphabetical order by country, the entry for the national archives is followed by other repositories either in alphabetical order or in alphabetical order of location by state/city/town. Introductory material explains data gathering procedures and coverage of the volume. This volume covers archives and repositories in the following countries: Finland, France, Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany), the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. An outline of the information required for entries in this guide and an index which includes personal names, organizations, and subjects conclude the directory. (THC)
