An information gathering questionnaire was sent to 246 organizations in two categories: intergovernmental organizations created before 1950 and non-governmental organizations with category A, B, or C relationships with Unesco and created before 1950. Responses were received from 64 organizations (26% of those polled); the entries are arranged alphabetically by title of the organization and most include: postal address, telephone number, year of founding, description of archives, access information, and research facilities. The amount of detail and clarity of description of each organization's archives varies considerably from entry to entry. The questionnaire (Appendix A) was designed to provide the opportunity for organizations with extensive and well-organized archives to give precise and detailed information, while enabling others to provide only a few basic facts if they preferred. A list of the 246 organizations to which the questionnaire was sent is appended. (THC) |
