Handbooks in part II include books on various ethnic groups and ethnographic theory and methods. Atlases and maps in part III are followed by directories of people; research institutions, courses, museums, and libraries; and serials. Literature surveys in part V include literature and book reviews and current awareness tools. Current bibliography and periodical indexes precede a retrospective bibliography which lists general anthropology topics, regional topics (Africa, American, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific and Australia), and special subjects (education; health, medicine, and nutrition; land tenure and land use settlements; urban anthropology and settlement studies; and women).
