contents Salaries Paid Professional Personnel in Public Schools, 1985-86. Part 2 of National Survey of Salaries and Wages in Public Schools. ERS Report. Clerical Workers Dining Facilities Elementary Secondary Education Enrollment Expenditure per Student Geographic Regions National Surveys Paraprofessional School Personnel Public Schools Salaries School District Size School Districts School Personnel School Statistics Tables (Data) Wages This report provides data on hourly wage rates and annual salaries paid in 1985-86 by responding school systems to personnel employed in 10 selected support positions. Data show lowest, highest, and average hourly wage ranges being paid to teacher aides, building custodians, cafeteria workers, and school bus drivers. Also shown are the annual salaries for support personnel such as secretaries/stenographers, accounting and payroll clerks, clerk-typists, and library clerks. Twenty-three summary tables show salary distributions, means, medians, and ranges of average, lowest, and highest salaries paid to selected personnel by the reporting school systems; three of these tables compare 1985-86 data with those reported for 1984-85. One table shows the number of responding school systems employing personnel in each position category and the total number of personnel reported. Summary data are presented according to the enrollment size of the school system and the geographic region in which the school system is located. The tables are a summarization of the data reported by the school systems in the sample; no attempt has been made to obtain estimates of national statistics for the categories of personnel listed.
