  • George Orwell &"Nineteen Eighty-Four": The Man and the Book. A Conference at the Library of Congress, April 30 and May 1, 1984. Authors Futures (of Society) Literary Criticism Novels Twentieth Century Literature Proceedings of a conference of international Orwell experts gathered at the Library of Congress are presented in this collection. The collection is divided into four sections, corresponding with the four conference sessions: "What Orwell Really Wrote"; "Orwell: The Man"; "'Nineteen Eighty-Four': The Book"; and "'Nineteen Eighty-Four': Its Meaning in 1984." Summaries of the subsequent floor discussions are included at the end of each section.
