Annotated Bibliographies Developing Nations Information Processing International Cooperation International Organizations Library Automation Library Cooperation Library Education Library Science Library Services For the purpose of this bibliography, international librarianship focuses on the role of information in society, and the methods of its acquisition, processing, retrieval, and dissemination across national boundaries by means of international library cooperation through the formulation and development of common standards, policies, and practices. Comparative librarianship, on the other hand, studies library systems within the context of geographical areas, regions, or individual countries in order to improve libraries and library services throughout the world. Most of the approximately 125 entries in the bibliography were published between 1970 and 1986. The entries are organized under the following subject headings: (1) International Librarianship/Comparative Librarianship; (2) International Organizations/International Associations; (3) International Programs; (4) Standards; (5) Library Services; (6) Cooperation; (7) Automation; (8) Professional Education; (9) Developing Nations; and (10) Libraries Throughout the World.
