Individual chapters cover: (1) Introduction to the Stony Brook Library; (2) The Author-Title Catalog; (3) How to Find Books on Your Topic Using the Subject Catalog; (4) Using Encyclopedias; (5) Subject Bibliographies; (6) Periodical Indexes and Abstracting Sources; (7) Newspapers; (8) Other Approaches to Researching Current Affairs; (9) United States Government Documents; (10) Social and Economic Statistics; (11) The Library and Computer Searching; and (12) Search Strategy. Examples of catalog cards and other forms are included as well as a list of objectives for each chapter. (THC)
