This reader, which is intended to serve as a basic tool for the training of information personnel at certificate and diploma levels throughout the countries of the region, includes nine articles: (1) "Interlibrary Lending in East Africa" (J. M. Ng'ang'a); (2) "The Role of the Library in the Process of Conducting Research" (J. M. Ng'ang'a); (3) "The Provision of Appropriate Reading Material for School Children in Southern African Region" (C. I. D. Nyirenda); (4) "Information Needs of Small Scale Business Enterprises: A Case Study of Botswana" (T. F. Kgosidintsi); (5) "Development of Kenyatta University College Library 1972-1984" (J. M. Ng'ang'a); (6) "User Needs: A Managers Tool for the Development of Efficient Services. A Practical Approach" (E. W. Muya); (7) "Information Services for Current Research in the Sudan" (C. Wesley); (8) "Public Relations: A Tool for Library Development" (K. J. Mchombu); and (9) "Collection Development and Dependence within the SADCC Configuration of Eastern, Central, and Southern African States" (J. R. Neill). Appendices include guidelines for authors interested in contributing to future volumes and a bibliography of DSE publications on information and documentation. (THC) |
