Introductory materials include a description of the nature of the service and statements of its objectives and policies for dealing with various ethical considerations. Policies and procedures are then spelled out for providing desk service and assistance with serials, monographs, and copying. Guidelines are also given for handling general inquiries, equipment failures, statistics, circulation, in-process microforms, and orientation and instruction for users. A subject index is provided.
